The Mallacoota Arts Council has been an active part of the Mallacoota community since the 1980s. Inspired by John Wood-Ingram as early as the 1970s, MAC provides opportunities for personal and community development, educational opportunities for local and regional students, youth and artists, a platform for presenting environmentally-sustainable cultural activities and cultural interaction with the local Koori community.
The Mallacoota Arts Council is a not-for-profit incorporated association, affiliated with Regional Arts Victoria, operated by its membership on a voluntary basis. The Mallacoota Arts Council provides a number of arts activities throughout the year for our local community and visitors, these have included:
- The Best of the St Kilda Short Film Festival, presented in conjunction with Creative Victoria & City of Port Phillip
- The Cafe Culture series presented in conjunction with Just Shows to Go and supported by Creative Victoria. Providing 4 shows of quality entertainment through the year
- We support a number of community arts activities and performances by visiting ‘on tour’ and local performers, exhibitions of local artists work, school centred arts and media activities and community fund raising activities
- The EJ Brady Short Story Competition – a nationally recognised literary event

Membership application forms are available at MA space, 66 Maurice Avenue, Mallacoota. An annual membership costs $10 for singles or $20 for families.
