Tales of Displace by Adrienne Kneebone
The notion of belonging to place is explored in an exhibition of new works by Adrienne Kneebone in Tales of Displace.
James Baldwyn stated, ‘The power to define the other seals one’s definition of oneself – who, then in such fearful mathematic is trapped?’.
By reflecting on the history of indigenous and colonial Australia Kneebone questions the power of assuming identity, the horror of fawning deception and the acceptance and honoring of truth.
In her photography and fibre Art, Kneebone brings up the notion of the intrusive takeover of this conteninent in the aptly named Tales of Displace.
